What an inspection camera does

An inspection camera, often called an endoscope or borescope, puts a small camera on the end of a probe. You feed the probe into a gap, and a live image shows you what's inside, so you can find the problem before you start taking things apart. Built-in lights matter as much as the camera, because most places worth inspecting are dark.

Built-in screen or phone app?

Inspection cameras generally come in two styles. Phone-app models send the picture to your smartphone, which keeps the tool small but means installing an app, pairing the camera and balancing your phone in an awkward spot. Screen models show the image on the tool itself, so everything you need is in one hand.

The AukonVee ES04 Industrial Endoscope with HD Screen is the second type. It switches on right away and shows a live, high-definition image on its built-in screen, with no phone to connect and no app to set up. Its adjustable LED lights brighten dark corners for a clearer view.

Four jobs it's made for

Car engines

Check tight spots in the engine bay that you can't see from above, look for signs of a leak, or track down a bolt or socket that slipped out of reach.

Plumbing and pipes

Look behind a toilet, under a vanity or into a pipe opening for drips, corrosion or a blockage, and get a better idea of the problem before you call a plumber.

HVAC ducts and vents

Lift off a register cover and look along the duct for dust buildup, debris or the toy that dropped through the floor vent.

Inside walls and ceilings

Through an existing opening or a small hole, see what's in a wall cavity before you drill or cut: pipes, wiring, insulation or signs of moisture.

Safety first

  • Stay out of live electrical equipment: never put the probe into an electrical panel or near live wiring. Shut off power at the breaker before inspecting near wires, and leave panel work to a licensed electrician.
  • Engine off and cool: never feed the camera into a running engine. Belts and fans can catch the cable, and hot parts can damage it.
  • Switch off heating and cooling before you look inside ducts.
  • Check before you get it wet: the product sheet doesn't list a waterproof rating, so read the manual before putting the probe into water.
  • Not for people or pets: an industrial endoscope is a tool for machines and buildings, never for medical use.

Tools & DIY: frequently asked questions

Do I need a phone or an app to use the ES04?

No. The AukonVee ES04 has a built-in HD screen that shows a live image directly on the tool, so there's nothing to pair or install.

Can I use it on a running engine or near live wiring?

No. Turn the engine off and let it cool before inspecting, since moving parts can catch the probe. Keep it out of electrical panels and live wiring, switch off power at the breaker before inspecting near wires, and call a licensed electrician for panel work.

Is the ES04 waterproof?

The product sheet doesn't list a waterproof rating. Check the user manual before putting the probe into water, or email support@gadgetcanada.ca and we'll help.

What warranty comes with the ES04?

It's sold new and covered by our 1-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Unused items in their original packaging can be returned within 30 days from delivery.
