How the F700 works

The Open Box F700 2-in-1 GPS Dog Fence & Training Collar pairs a handheld remote with a collar receiver, and you can switch between two modes.

GPS virtual fence

Set a circular boundary around your home, cottage or campsite, with no wires to bury. When your dog nears the edge, the collar responds with a tone, a vibration or adjustable static stimulation, depending on how you've set it up. Because the boundary is circular, pick a centre point that keeps the edge well away from roads and driveways.

Remote training

In this mode, you send the signals yourself from the handheld remote. Its backlit digital screen shows the battery level, the perimeter distance and the communication channel at a glance.

Shopping for an open box dog training collar Canada-wide

  • Size: the adjustable strap is designed for medium and large dogs.
  • Weather: the collar is waterproof and built to handle rain, mud and splashes, and it recharges with the included USB cable.
  • In the box: the handheld remote with GPS screen, the receiver with adjustable collar, a USB charging cable, a test light with contact points for checking the static output, and the manual.
  • Local rules: check your municipality's bylaws, and the rules at parks or campgrounds, before relying on a virtual fence or using static training.

Using it responsibly

  • Start with the tone and vibration modes. Only use static if you need it, at the lowest level that gets your dog's attention.
  • Introduce the boundary gradually, and supervise your dog while it learns.
  • Pair the collar with reward-based training, and consider a qualified trainer for guidance.
  • A virtual fence isn't a physical barrier, and GPS can be less precise near buildings or heavy tree cover, so it can't guarantee your dog stays inside. Keep an eye out, especially near roads and water.
  • Follow the manual's guidance on fit and wear time, and check your dog's neck regularly.

Open box, explained

Open box means the packaging has been opened, so the F700 isn't sealed-new. We inspect and test it before it ships, and the contents are exactly as listed. It carries our 90-day limited warranty for open-box items, and you can send it back within 30 days from delivery in the same condition you received it under our returns and refunds policy. Our open box grading guide explains how we check open-box items, and orders over $99 ship free.
