Windshield camera or mirror camera?

Both dash cams record front and rear, but they sit in different places and suit different drivers. Here's how they line up.

The S60 for wide, detailed front footage

The Open Box S60 Dual Dash Cam records with its 2.5K QHD front camera and 1080P rear camera at the same time. The manufacturer says the 170-degree lens can take in up to four lanes, and the bright f/1.8 aperture is designed for clearer footage in low light. A G-sensor locks footage when it detects an impact, and loop recording keeps the camera rolling. Parking monitoring is available, but it needs a hardwire kit, which isn't listed in the box.

The CE50X for a clear windshield and parking help

The Open Box TOGUARD CE50X Touchscreen Mirror Dash Cam builds the recorder into a 7-inch touchscreen mirror, so there's no separate unit on the glass. It records continuously in Full HD, and when you shift into reverse it switches to the rear camera with parking guide lines. The waterproof rear camera comes with its wiring, so allow more installation time than you would for a suction-cup camera.

Mounting and everyday use

  • Keep your view clear: mount the camera so it doesn't block your view of the road, and check your province's rules on windshield-mounted devices.
  • Route cables safely: tuck the rear camera cable along the trim so nothing dangles near the pedals or controls.
  • Plan for storage: neither box lists a memory card, so ask our team what you'll need before your first drive.
  • Know what footage can do: a dash cam records what its cameras see, but it can't promise any legal or insurance outcome.

Coverage includes our 90-day limited warranty from Gadget Canada, and you have 30 days from delivery to return it in the same condition you received it under our returns and refunds policy. See our open box grading guide for how we check items. Orders over $99 ship free.

Open Box Dash Cams: frequently asked questions

Does the S60 record while the car is parked?

It has a parking monitoring mode, but that mode needs a hardwire kit for continuous power, and a hardwire kit isn't listed in the box.

Will the TOGUARD CE50X take up space on my windshield?

No separate windshield unit is needed, because it replaces or fits over your existing rearview mirror. You'll still need to route the rear camera's wiring and make sure nothing blocks your view.

Is a memory card included with these dash cams?

A memory card isn't listed in either box. Email support@gadgetcanada.ca before ordering and we'll help you work out what you need.

Will dash cam footage help with an insurance claim?

We can't promise any legal or insurance outcome. A dash cam records what its cameras see, and how that footage is used is up to the people reviewing it.
