Warranty

Every product sold by Gadget Canada comes with a limited warranty: new items are covered for 1 year against manufacturing defects, and used devices are covered for 90 days. The Gadget Canada warranty is provided by us, so if something goes wrong, you make your claim directly with our team by email. This page explains what’s covered, what isn’t and how to make a claim.

Warranty periods for new and used items

Item Warranty Provided by
New: brand-new and sealed 1-year limited warranty Gadget Canada
Used: pre-owned, inspected and graded 90-day limited warranty Gadget Canada

The coverage rules on this page apply to both. The only difference is the length of the warranty period. To learn how used devices are checked before they’re listed, see how we grade and inspect used devices.

What the Gadget Canada warranty covers

The warranty covers manufacturing defects: faults in materials or workmanship that show up during normal use within the warranty period. Examples of issues that may be caused by a manufacturing defect include:

  • A device that won’t power on or won’t charge, despite normal use and the correct charger.
  • Buttons, ports, speakers or microphones that stop working without any physical damage.
  • A display or backlight fault that isn’t the result of an impact.
  • An appliance component that fails during normal household use, installed as the manual directs.

For used devices, the 90-day limited warranty covers the same kinds of faults when they show up during normal use within the warranty period.

What isn’t covered

This is a limited warranty, so it covers manufacturing defects only. It doesn’t cover:

  • Accidental damage, such as drops, cracked screens, dents or liquid damage.
  • Misuse, neglect, or use that doesn’t follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Damage from incorrect installation, an unsuitable electrical supply, or power surges.
  • Repairs, modifications or software changes made by anyone other than Gadget Canada or a provider we authorize.
  • Normal wear and tear, including cosmetic scratches, worn straps and the gradual loss of battery capacity that all rechargeable batteries experience with age.
  • On a used device, the cosmetic wear described by its grade and listing notes.
  • Consumable parts that wear out with use, such as filters, brushes and pads.
  • Loss, theft, or loss of data stored on a device.
  • Products that weren’t purchased from Gadget Canada.

Warranty period and proof of purchase

The warranty lasts one year for new items and 90 days for used items. Your order confirmation email serves as your proof of purchase, so please keep it. If you can’t find it, include your order number and the email address you used at checkout when you contact us.

How to make a warranty claim

  1. Try the basics. Fully charge the device, restart it, install available software updates and check the troubleshooting section of the manual.
  2. Email us. Write to support@gadgetcanada.ca with your order number, the product name, a description of the problem, when it started and what you’ve already tried. Clear photos or a short video help a lot. For TVs and appliances, include the model and serial number from the product label.
  3. Follow the next steps. We reply within 1 business day. Depending on the issue, we may suggest further troubleshooting, ask for more information or arrange for the product to be sent to us for assessment.
  4. Resolution. When we confirm a defect covered by the warranty, we’ll resolve it with a repair, a replacement with the same or an equivalent model, or a refund, depending on the product and the fault.

Before you send us a device

  • Back up your photos, contacts and files. Repairs and replacements can erase stored data.
  • Sign out of your accounts and turn off device locks and anti-theft features, so the device can be tested.
  • Remove SIM cards and memory cards.
  • Only include accessories if we ask for them.

TVs and large appliances

For TVs, refrigerators and washer-dryers, please don’t return the item before we’ve reviewed your claim. Email us first with photos or video of the issue and the model and serial number, and we’ll explain the next steps for your situation.

Warranty or return?

If you simply changed your mind, you can return an item within 30 days from delivery under our returns and refunds policy. New items must be unused and in their original packaging, and used items must come back in the same condition you received them. If a product has a defect covered by the warranty, the warranty applies for the full warranty period: one year for new items and 90 days for used items.

Your rights under provincial law

This limited warranty is in addition to, and doesn’t limit, any rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your province or territory. For example, Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act provides a legal warranty that goods will be fit for their purpose and durable for a reasonable length of time.
