Why we sell unlocked used phones Canada-wide

A carrier lock is a software restriction that ties a phone to one provider. Every used phone we sell is unlocked, so it isn't limited to a single provider's SIM card. That helps if you're switching providers, moving to a prepaid plan or handing a phone down to a family member on a different network.

What unlocking can't do is add network support that the hardware doesn't have. How well a phone connects on Bell, Rogers, TELUS, Freedom, Videotron or another Canadian provider depends on the frequency bands it supports, and calling features such as VoLTE can vary from one carrier to the next. Before you order:

  • Look up the model's supported bands on its full specification sheet and compare them with your carrier's network.
  • Ask your carrier to confirm the model can be activated on your plan, and whether 5G is available to you.
  • Email our team if a detail you need isn't listed.

The IMEI blacklist check

Every phone has an IMEI, a unique identifier you can display by dialling *#06#. Canadian carriers share a blacklist of IMEIs reported lost or stolen, and a blacklisted phone can be blocked from their networks. We check the IMEI of every used phone against this list through the CWTA Device Check before it goes on sale, which helps protect you from buying a phone that's been reported.

What battery health means

Battery health compares how much charge a battery can hold today with how much it held when new. All lithium-ion batteries lose capacity gradually with charge cycles and age, so a phone at 90% holds roughly 90% of its original charge when full. Every used phone we sell has at least 80% battery health, and the exact percentage appears on the listing when it can be measured. If battery life is your top priority, compare that figure across listings along with each model's rated capacity.

  1. Confirm carrier compatibility for your provider and plan.

  4. See what's included. Used phones come with the phone and a compatible charging cable unless the listing says otherwise, and the original box isn't guaranteed.
